2000 Adventurer Suggestions

I bought my 2000 Adventurer 35B a couple of months ago and am almost ready to go on my first trip.

My first upgrade was doing the 30 to 50 amp shore power conversion. The 50 amp was an option so the transfer switch was 50 amp from the factory. There is lots of good information on the forum and Youtube has a multi part video that is extremely helpful. I really need to run two AC units and the 30 amp limitation was ridiculous.

The second suggestion is upgrading the old black and grey water dump valves. It was obvious when I bought it that the cable operated valves were in bad condition and needed new cables. I didn't realize how difficult a job it was to replace the cables nor how much someone would charge. After reading many posts for two days straight I found the answer. In the 2001 model year Winnebago changed the design and eliminated cable valves. I stripped out all the 3" pipe and re-plumbed as per the diagram. It had to cut the white panel and relocate the exterior shower faucet to make it fit. It was a lot of work but nothing complex. The hardest part was turning sideways into the compartment in from the the rear wheel to disconnect the rubber coupling from the grey tank. I bought all the fittings at Home Depot and for only $57 from etrailer I got a Valterra Black/ Grey Y connector that is now in a spot when I can easily replace t because I used rubber couplings to make it serviceable.

I also read about the roofs blowing off. I checked and there was NO caulk or residue where the sides of the roof were inserted into the aluminum channel. See Az expert videos on YouTube for Winnebago roof maintenance. I ended up spending a lot of time on the roof too.

Hopefully this month we will get to take our first trip.

Good on you.

After all the work that first trip will hopefully be a great one.
