As some of you know, I have had my Catalytic (cat) converter stolen and I'm looking for ways to stop it happening again. I've read a billllllllllion (at least) threads from the Toyota, Honda groups to the ????? groups.
In realty, it comes down to a few ways to stop future theft. The best by far is to use public transit
People are losing their cats in Walmart (sears, CDN tire etc etc) parking lots, storage yards, in their driveway and even on the sides of the street while going in for coffee. BTW, I'm talking motor homes not cars.
I figure the best deterrent is something that blocks or discourages the thief from getting at the cat. There is the catclamp, catbelt, and catshield. I have been in contact with a couple of them and kind of dread having to ship into Canada. You got to know UPS is going to add on at least $25 for a broker fee. Will they ship USPS? I haven't asked yet but its a problem.
After spending all this time I remembered touring a metal fabrication shop in the lower mainland of BC. I'm thinking about approaching them and seeing about creating a "shield/skid plate" like they do for priesus and Elements.
Anyone interested in a Cat shield made for an F53 frame? Just curious if I can tell them that there are others out there interested.
BTW, any input or advice would be appreciated. The motor home goes in at the end of the month for the new Cat.
Thanks
