Fed Up w Atwood! Tankless Water to Tank?

Hello

2016 Micro Minnie 2106FBS

Date of purchase: May 2018

Issue: Atwood 6 gallon tankless water heater Model OD-5001 does not work 75% of every camping trip

I am fed up with the tankless water heater ruining every trip I take with the Micro Minnie. It is so finnicky. It seems like the first day of every trip, I spend it researching how to get the tankless water heat to work. Well, I am tired of it ruining our trips.

So I contacted atwood for help and opened up a case. They said it has a recall for a scalding issue and they can not help us any further until it is installed. I called several of their "authorized" dealers and no one can see us until August at the earliest. Thanks Atwood. So I have a non authorized dealer look at it and the service department said "with these units, you are peeing in the wind throwing time and money at it. I would advise you to rip this terribly engineered unit out and put something more reliable in there. I have seen hundreds of these tankless units and they are all crap."

Question? Has anyone replaced their 6 gallon units for the Micro and will you suggest an economical and dependable one? How much did it cost?

Thank you for the info

Amazing that Bago just has its head up in the sand on this issue when they sold a 60plus K rig to you a few scant years ago is it not? Can you imagine an auto manufacturer saying well go to the manufacturer of that sub assembly and follow through!!

Best of luck with this issue and do contact the creator BAGO about this and let them know if you haven't already as you must have during the early days. Keep us posted.

I replaced the thankless water heater in our 2016 2106DS with an Atwood DSI gas only heater. Prior to purchase, I verified with Winnebago that it would fit. Did it myself and the job was not too bad. The biggest issue was that Atwood had a bunch of faulty control boards that they were flushing out of their supply chain and it took me 3 tries before a got a reliable board. Luckily, the boards are easy to replace. That was in early 2018 so the bad boards may all be out of the pipeline by now.
