2008 Vectra Basement AC question

Was just wondering if there has been anyone service their basement AC. By "servicing" what I'm talking about is, "Actually removing the unit" from where it sets.
If someone has attempted this task, please respond back to have further discussion(s).
thanks to all that respond in advance.

The best procedure is from Duner (R.I.P.)

The link that wayne gave is the best info you can have. Last spring I removed mine to replace a fan bearing. The hardest part of removal was disconnecting the duct work from the unit. Required small tools and for me lots of patience.

The lowering of the unit is straightforward as is sliding it out. I made a stand that would support the unit at the same height as if it was in the camper.

I pre-ordered all the capacitors, as I was replacing them also. The one capacitor is mounted on the motor cover and can only be changed when unit is out.

Good luck

You may find videos on this process on YouTube. They may not be your exact year or model but are likely very similar.

Mine slides straight out after removing trim & duct connectors. I have had mine out several times for service, then totally replaced it w\a new unit.

Removing and reinstalling requires two people that can lift over 225 lbs, avoiding damaging the end air supply duct, parking on a flat concrete surface. I recommend finding and hiring a crew of two experienced in servicing basement air units. My 2005 Suncruiser is now on its third unit. The most frustrating for me was finding and scheduling an experienced service crew. Once installed, I recommend having it serviced every three years by removing it but there are few affordable places that can schedule and service you unit without a very long drive. Most mobile RV techs I’ve used can’t or won’t even work on basement air units.
When operating properly basement air units are quieter and do a great job. Service is a problem because RV service centers don’t offer an affordable service option. Just my opinions.
Good question.

Basement A/C Service

I would recommend Shelburne RV Service in Cleveland Tennessee. He is the expert on basement air units. Check out his You Tube Channel. My wife and I enjoy his videos and we have learned a lot about RV maintenance. His phone number is 423-479-3627

Depending on how you may think, would drawings of what parts are involved be of help?
I sometimes find it helps to spot where things seperate or where they put that last little bracket to hold it! !

Down about page 190 OF THESE:
