Atwood GCH10A-4E thermostats replacement

Recent trip. Had the water heater on propane. Seemed be running a long time. Then it started to cycle off and on every few minutes. Found the thermostat plastic ring broken and thermostat not touching the water tank.

Ordered a 91447 kit. The plastic rings on the new thermostats are much thicker and the springs beefer. I can't get the thermostats to reach the three tabs on the water heater face. I don't want to bend the tabs at this point. Wonder if I got the wrong kit shipped? I'm thinking about going to my dealers parts department to compare what they have. Sure looks like a flimsy mounting system.

The old thermostat have different width terminals to denote thermostat versus ECO. Original non ECO has narrow terminals. I don't see temps marked on the originals unless I'm not seeing them. New ones are marked 60C and 82C. Are the originals the same just not marked?

I ordered an Atwood labeled kit from Camping World. Plastic clips looks correct. Will see what happens.

On irv2.com, locate a post by Old-Biscuit; He will know everything you are asking, he's an expert on RV appliances. He doesn't post here.

I received the kit from Camping World. Thermostats have the thinner plastic retainers like the originals. The thermostats have the different width terminals like the originals. Have be careful getting that plastic ring behind the 3 metal tabs. I had concerns the plastic ring might break. Got them installed and they are tight against the water heater. I filled the tank and heated it up on propane. It shut off as expected. Let it cool an tried heating with electric. I watched the load on the panel. After awhile the load dropped off. I think it’s working as it should.
