Atwood GCH10A-4E - Itasca Meridian 2004

So this hot water heater always leaked a bit. Several tried, by me and others failed to resolve it. So last winter, I thought, I would just replace the whole thing. And I did. Ordered up a new one and put it in. Carefully and no leaks. Yay.

16 Months later no light on gas. Warrantee 2 yrs, so went to Atwood site. Called up a Mobile Tech who walked me though a diagnosis to determine that board was bad. Told me name of RV parts place to take board with receipt and they would do the warrantee stuff for the hours. Perfect. Well..... They don't have any..... Expect more in a week. In a week I will be far away. BUT...... he also mentioned that these boards are dropping like flies. There is some kind of bubble that forms in the potted stuff, and they don't work anymore.

So I guess my question is...... Might anyone know if this "issue" has been resolved? Should I continue to fight the good fight to try to get this replaced under the 2 yr warrantee? Or should I bite the bullet now and get a dinosaur board for 1/4 the price of the water heater, so I don't have to mess with this again in a year?

Anyone have inside knowledge of what is going on here?
Thanks
Alex
