2014 Winnebago View Grey Tank Leak

2014 Winn View model J. We just had a beautiful weekend on the Oregon coast but I noticed a grey tank leak at the rubber coupler on the discharge pipe. It looks like a simple replacement but I thought I’d ask if anyone had any tips. I’m wondering if there is enough wiggle room in the plumbing to get the old coupler out and the new one in without having to disassemble the pipes.

My Meridian has enough room. The rubber connectors on mine connect to a tee that for the sewer line to connect to.

When you get a new one or two use vaseline on the pipe and rubber to make it easier to install.

Have you tried tightening the band clamp? It also looks as though it may have been up on the hub (or coupling) and pulled away. Putting a rubber coupling like that on the hub or coupling is not a standard practice but I've seen it done. If it pulled off the coupling and someone just tried to tighten it without pushing it back that would explain the leak (because the coupling is a larger diameter than the pipe), IF it was up on the coupling originally which it suspiciously looks like it was.
The raised print is the giveaway, you won't see that on pipe, only on a hub or a coupling.
My guess is that there is no pipe stub in there at all and it was attached to the coupling and pulled away.

BTW a 5/16" nut driver works best on those and if possible the torque is 60 inch lbs. but most folks just get them real tight. There is actually a tool with a "T" handle that gives way at 60 inch lbs but not necessary for a one time fix like yours if you don't already own the tool.

Those are ordinary cheap radiator hose clamps. When you install the new adapter use constant tension clamps like DP's use on their coolant connections.

Leaky grey tank coupler

I found a replacement Valterra brand coupler on Amazon for $10. I had to remove the grey tank knife valve and slide the pvc pipe to gain enough clearance to remove/install the coupler. No leaks yet!
