flying blind
Went to Bamfield last week and although the trip was incredible the trailer showed that some minor things are not up to snuff and poorly designed.
Our suspension lift did fine but one of the front stabilizer jacks dropped from the shaking. Unfortunately the one that dropped is adjacent to the useless propane external tank fill dongle thingy on the drivers side.
Of the list of things to change the crappy stabilizer jack system is one of them. As well as removing and dead ending the completely useless ill conceived external propane tank fill line, which is an obvious safety hazard that should not be allowed on the road.
The valance that holds the blinds is very poorly designed and cheap crap. The blinds themselves are great but the way they are attached is crappy beyond belief and almost impossible to re-attach without making it worse than it came from the factory.
The rest of the trailer seems great though and following the instructions to keep power to the Lippert slide out works well to make sure that mechanism performs well and is quite robust. In Bamfield there is a graveyard of wrecked RVs and there is a booming business in Port Alberni towing wrecked trailers and motorized shacks out of the bush. Especially the ones that brave the journey to Pachina. LOL
I certainly would not have taken our winnie drop down there without lifting it first. Even with the lift kit applied the weight distribution hitch bottomed out a few times rolling slowly over some of the bridge dips.
But what a wonderful place!
