2401RG couch swap possible?
Have opportunity to buy nice 17 2401RG at good price but would want to swap out the jackknife sofa. Looks easy enough, has anyone done it or know anything? Think I read there’s actually a box there that cannot be removed?
Thanks.

If it is constructed like our 2106FBS the slide box is built over the wheel wells which intrude into the trailer living space. The existing couch frame is designed to fasten on top of it so sits a foot, foot and a half off the floor. Based on the floor plan and photos it looks to me the 2401RG will use the same construction. An easy way to check is when the slide is in look underneath from the side to see if the slide floor is raised above the wheel wells or just above the trailer floor.

According to seller (dealer) they are pretty sure the sofa could be removed and replaced with other furniture. In the floorplan the sofa sits in the slide so it is not on the wheel well.
Hoping to find someone who has done similar.

Watching this as I had the same question. Called dealer as we have not purchased yet and asked him. He went out with tech and they said due to wheel wells and location of slide that it probably was not possible. Well obviously I have too much time on my hands so started thinking and understand why a tri-fold sofa could not be put into the spot but wonder about theater seating. Tri-fold due to the legs and support on the end and the slide not being floor level, but theater seating would not need the support. May have to check into that further.

The dealer you are talking too should be able to find out for sure. The couch folds out into a bed. When lifting it up they will be able to tell how the frame is built and if the bottom of the slide box is on the floor or above the wheel wells. I'd have them send you some pictures as well.

I wouldn't trust anyone else's opinion. There's no substitute for checking it out with your own eyes and measuring tape. If it's doable, it's likely that the replacement will need to be modified in some manner so you'll need to identify some potential replacements as well to ensure they can be made to fit.

We have a 2401 rg and after a year of ownership and changing out the sofa cushions to a denser foam, we ended up replacing it with an Ikea sofa. My husband build a little cabinet next to it to make it look built in. Because the slide is higher than the floor, we just left the legs off the sofa. It sits at the perfect level and is so much more comfortable than the jack-knife.

Well that is an excellent job, I understand some of the issues with it not being a floor level slide but that jack knife even when down not being level looks a bit iffy.

Very nice!
We ended up ordering a 2500FL.

I know this is an old thread but we are in the same boat with our 2018 2401RG.
We wanted recliners in this space but that just doesn't seem to be possible.
Do you have any idea the model or name of the IKEA couch you used in your pictures.
Thanks

I think we will visit IKEA & find a couch like the earlier poster installed. Seems to be the easiest & best solution.
