Vista screen door latch

Our Vista is missing the latch to hold the screen door closed, when the entry door is open. I don't know if this is something the PO did because it didn't work well or what, but we aren't able to close the screen door fully while the entry door is open. I've searched the Cortona3D parts catalog a few times now and no luck. I need to call Lichtsinn and talk to Dave I guess, but I was hoping someone else with a Vista/VistaLX/Adventurer could share some pics. Good close up pics of both the frame and door side so I can hopefully identify the parts.

Or tell me that it's not worth it and I'll regret installing those parts, either option works for me.

Thank you Finito, I think that catch is exactly the part I need.

I ordered those same parts from either Amazon or Camping World. Don't remember which one for sure. Not very expensive. Those latches come in left and right-handed models, so be sure to order the one exactly like your original.

If you have an RV dealer or parts store in your area they might have them too.

The original was lost/removed by the previous owner, so I have no clue what it looked like. But probably like the one in Finito's pics.

That's a good idea, we have a couple now. I'll take a pic and some measurements and see if I can track one down local. Thanks

I needed one for my 2005 Adventurer and order 3 different ones from Amazon that looked like they would work. In reality I returned all 3 of them because they did not work. I went to my local Winnebago dealer and they ordered a original one from Winnebago.

When it arrived it was a direct replacement and worked great. In short don't waste your time and energy ordering different ones. Get the original from Winnebago. If you do not have a local Winnebago dealer contact Lichtesinn RV and they will get it for you also.

Here is a link to their website.

Here is a link to the manual with the part I believe you are looking for.
https://catalog3d.winnebagoind.com/2015/17357709.htm

It is item number 45. In this you will find the part number of: 132915-01-CHT

Here is a link to Etrailer also that has one that looks like it might work.

If your PO was like me, the OEM part broke ( you should see two holes where it was removed). If they are not adjusted perfectly they will snag making the outside door hard to open and eventually they break. We were out for dinner one night and I didn't have time to tinker with it, so I broke it to open the door. I then took mine off for a while while trying to order parts, the closest dealer did not stock and the $20 part was like $50 when you add all the shipping.

I bought this one off ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/154607888623 for $11 and it fit well. I have had about two years now with no issues, I ordered a 2nd one as a backup. They are very low risk and in worse case; you may drill one hole so that it is on perfect center. In my book, I could have 5 of the replacements for one OEM that had already proven to not last very long (maybe 16 months before failing?).

FWIW, and if you into engineering, the replacement is designed better as the latch catch is rounded not square like the OEM so it makes it easier to release away from catch plate and not snag when/if adjust is lightly out of alignment.

Update: If the part that actually affixes to the outside door is gone, this replacement may not work for you. I just remembered in my case it was only the handle assembly that broke and I only replaced it. I mounted the new handle from ebay onto the screen door, I still have the OEM parts on outside door and OEM strike plate on RV door wall to catch handle.

Thanks! I just bought that from eBay. I'm pretty sure the latch in the upper right of the eBay listing picture is all I need, but for $11 I'll keep the rest for spares. I haven't had a chance to call Lichtsinn yet, I still want to call and get the price at least.

The eBay part didn't quite fit, I could have used a drill to adapt it, but I called Lichtsinn and got the right part, the holes line up perfectly. Now I need to find the right screws/nuts to mount it. The Winnebago part is metal, and it may or may not work. I might still end up modifying the plastic part from eBay.

The 27N may be different than the 29ve. My OEM was plastic. I could have bought the replacement OEM but if was $50 for min order and shipping Lichtsinn & my local dealer. $50 is not that much but $11 was work the shot, as I mentioned for some models you may have to drill one new hole to make it deadcenter. The old hole would be hidden under the plate.

But you got the OEM, you should be good. I have spare replacement just waiting for the 1st replacement to break. I may have had the replacement longer than the OEM now?

I traveling now, but when I get home I may get some pictures for kicks, I never throw stuff like this away. Again $50 and I could have avoided, but just felt that price was too much for what I view as a defective design.
