First Canadian Platinum Shield claim

Hello forum...

We are just coming up to our 4th year of the First Canadian Platinum Shield Protection warranty on our 2016 Vista LX. We had the mandatory 2 year inspection done which consisted of a walk around visual and "hand swipe" inspection. No issues. This was just repeated 2 months short of the warranty expiry at 4 years. The report from my dealer in Abbotsford BC (Fraserway) indicated oxidation of the finish in different areas. The quote was $4700 (22 hours labour and supplies) for repair (cut and polish) and re-application of product. The claim limit is $3000 by First Canadian so i was told it would be $1700 out of my pocket. Me not a happy camper. We had a trip planned to southern Alberta and decided on obtaining a second opinion while there. After speaking with the Chemical Claim Department at First Canadian, we were referred to the authorized dealer in our area (Woody's RV Center). Their inspection and repair / re-application estimate came to $1900. Me happy camper. Anyone else have similar experiences to share?

We had mold erupt under the DuraShield on our rig...looked like it had green measles. Local estimate to remove the film was $3000, plus another $500 to put new film on. So I called LCI in Forest City, the company that paints the Winnebago RVs off the assembly line. They took the RV back under warranty and did the repair at no charge, the catch being that I had to bring the rig to them. We got a nice summer trip and a like-new looking front of the motorhome (beautiful work!).
