Replacement Dash Rasio for my 2007 Journey
I have a gear question, my original Magnadyne radio has seen better days. The slightest bump in the road makes a CD skip no easy way to connect with my phone etc.
I would like to replace the thing and there are numerous options for a double din replacement. One concern I have however is with the viewing angle. As you can see in the attached photo it is pretty low in my stack. Not a good place to be looking or straining at when driving 30,000 pounds of motorhome.
I have looked at double din replacements that have a movable screen that is 10" diagonal. Viewing angles are moot if I can adjust said viewing angle. but then it may partially cover my AC vents as well.
Curious if any of you have replaced your dash radio and what you found that worked best. I see replacements from $30 to $400, it is easy to get buried in the minutia of details

Hey Tim, I'll tell you what I tell everyone in your shoes - take the RV to a Car Audio Installer and let them help you.
You may find someone here with the same year, model and Magnadyn stereo that replaced theirs and can give you a shortcut to the right thing, at least for them. But that is a real slim chance.
Since you live near Dayton, I've attached a Google Map of Stereo Installers in the Dayton Area. You may even find one willing to come to you so you don't have to take your RV into their Shop.

I have spoken with a few of those shops in the past. Some want nothing to do with a motor home, some want to sell me a $2000 system and others simply say drive it over and we will look at it. I check their parking lots out and there is no way I am making it safely in or out. I could go look at what they do have in my pickup and at least give them a sort of test drive I guess.

Calling Crutchfield is alway an option. They excel in this kind of long distance advice. You'd send them that photo no doubt.
Is that a Double DIN or a DIN and a Half?

Tim, I have the exact dash you do and I bought a nice unit from e-trailer.com. It fit in the slot very well with very little mod to the opening. PM me with an email address and I'll send you a pic and the info on the radio.

We have the same radio placement and there is absolutely no way I would ever try to touch any of the controls while driving down the road...

The Magnadyne radios from that era are 1.5 DIN in height, not double DIN. Magnadyne sells an adapter (link here) that allows fitting a 1 DIN in the 1.5 DIN hole.
The parts list for a 2007 Journey (link here), page 96, implies there may be space to move the radio above the vents. It depends a bit on what the structure looks like behind the bezel panel in that area.

You sir have saved me some money, I was not aware that my old Magnadyne was 1.5 din.
