Drilled through wire

I was changing a light that started going bad. Found this wire drilled through.

Looks like a once in a million (or at least 1:10,000) fluke. Crimp on a short extension to fix. Or maybe enough wires are left that you could just let it go with a piece of tape around the wire. LED lights draw very little current.

My explanation wasn’t very good. The damaged wire is part of the OEM light. The coach wiring is fine.

Are you are replacing it , or the bulb ? Cut the wire there ,and wire nut to coach wire . Should have enough wire length . Maybe why the light was going bad .

It’s an LED, replaced the whole light. Just showing what I found. There is plenty of wire coming out of the ceiling. Thanks.
