Batteries

I have a 94 Winnebago Brave WR33RQ on the Ford F53 chassis. I have a question concerning the house batteries. They are hooked up in series. Is this correct?
Thanks all,
Doug

For 12V batteries they should be hooked up in parallel (+ to + and - to -).

For 6V batteries every 2 of them should be hooked up in series (+ to -) (effectively making a giant 12V battery) and if you have two or more pairs the pairs should then be connected to each other in parallel. This is sometimes known as series/parallel.

Generally , no. If there are more than one batteries in the string as the coach often has, they will be parallel. But let's make sure we are both speaking the same with series being connecting the positive of one to negative of the other so that the voltage is added versus parallel where the negative is to negative and pos. to pos. and the amp hours or capacity is doubled while the voltage stays the same.
But it is can often get confused if one wants to use 6 volt batteries wired in series to make them act as 12 volt batteries.
So in that case, you often get two six volt in series but if you have four it is two sets of two batteries and then those sets are wired in parallel.

Wiring for lots of Rv is here:

But there is a lot of good info posted online for your Rv and this is the drawing covering the batteries:

I did a snip of the section at top left but hard to see details. Click this picture for better view.

Thanks all. I’ve been dealing with batteries for over 25 years and I couldn’t see too good with the available lighting. They are wired positive to positive and negative to negative (parallel).

Keep in mind when working on things on your 27-yr old RV that even though they might have a specific OEM spec from the factory that this may not mean anything with regards to what you find on YOUR RV.

For instance the Brave may have left the factory with 12v house batteries in parallel wiring but it would not be unusual that a previous owner changed that to 6v house batteries in serial wiring.

All I’m getting at is asking others here what they have or what the factory OEM setup was may be meaningless in regards to your RV. So keep that in mind.

Unlike automobiles RV go through large amounts of “re-engineering” by previous owners. Especially in the house part of the vehicle.
