Awning malfunctions

Our awning on our 2019 Travato was extended but would not retract when the switch was pushed. We eventually used the manual retraction process which was very easy. But the manual retraction seems to solve the original problem which I believe now was a bound mechanical in the gears or motor which was resolved by the manual movement because after the manual retraction the awning went out and in perfectly. I would have probably only had to manually move the awing a few inches to resolve the problem but I will know next time. For future ease in using the manual retraction I have drilled a hole in the end plate large enough to insert the socket to manually retract so I do not have to remove and reattach the end plate. A rubber grommet fills the hole when not needed. Hope this helps someone out of a tight spot.
