Almost Got Locked Out!

We were in a State Park over the weekend in an isolated area. We did not take the toad since it was a short weekend trip. I must have hit the lock and put it in the down position accidentally and closed the door. It was a matter of luck that I had the keys in my pocket. I did not know the door would lock in this manner. I'm getting a set of keys made and put them in a key lock somewhere outside before making another trip. This could have been a "nightmare." If your MH can be locked in this manner I would suggest you do the same.

Another alternative ,,if there is another Winnie owner in the area see if his key will open your door. Worked for my friend and I when we were on a trip. Love your floor plan the 39DQ is very liveable. Had that on a 03 Horizon.

I never completely trusted our keyless entry so I have a magnetic key holder squirreled away just in case...

I used a electric tie wrap and hid a key on a frame member...Was worried that with our lovely Interstate system a magnet wouldn't hold...

Same thing happened to us only we were at Denali NP, AK. We called road service and about a hour or two later they had the door unlocked. Only thing was it was raining so we stood under the awning and tried to keep dry. We tried to find another winny key from another owner but none of them would work. We now have a spare key in an outside hiding place.

Anyone have a suggestion where can you get the Tri-Mark blanks to make the extra keys with?

Jon, if you pick out your key here and give the ILCO number to your local locksmith, he/she can order it for you.

Or your MH dealer would have them or order them.

ILCO has a huge market presence at locksmiths, hardware stores, etc.

You can also call TriMark directly (1-800-431-8616) and give them the code numbers on your key. The cost through them is $2.50 per key. They also have a handling charge of $10.00 for any orders under $100.00. This will give you another avenue to get additional keys.

there are two places that open that are not lockable ... front hood and propane door ... look around in there ... I found a place to hide a couple of keys when I looked ...

I have a full set of keys, including the engine compartment "key" in a real-estate type lockbox: The kind with the 3/8 steel hasp that normally fit over the door handle.

That's attached to a piece of 1" steel square stock that I "think" (I'm not there to look) is part of the generator frame. It has a 4-digit combo door with a slide cover. Home Depot: $30
