2014 Vista with MCD Internal Manual Shade Adjustment

The small shade in the bedroom of my 2014 Vista needs to have the spring tightened. The shade has internal adjustment on the ends. I removed the 2 side valance and tried to reach the adjustment buttons/screws but my finger will reach and allow me to push in but I do not have enough side space to use a screw driver. I cant feel any screws holding the top valance so I have no idea how to remove the top valance to get to the shade.

I think the videos show you can remove the shade from the shade bracket but at my age I can not longer twist and turn like I could 10 years ago. I cant seem to feel the bracket holders.

How is the top Valance attached to the wall? Can it be removed?

Drawings are not always correct but this seems to show L-brackets at four locations?

Second method may be a bit harder to do but you might want to try it.
When dealing with mine, we found the top of the shade itself is a metal part which has grooves along the length of the main body and those grooves are snapped into clips along the top.
I've tried to draw out the idea as if you were looking from the sides. By pressing or pulling down (not sure which) we were able to unsnap the metal top and remove the whole shade. A bit tricky to do but then when wanting to go back up, we found that putting one side of the metal top into the clips and then "rolling" the other side up as we pressed hard upward, it would snap back into the clips.

I "think" it takes a pretty strong push upward on the longer end of the clip to release and then pay attention to which side comes out first and put the other side in first.

Hope that makes some sort of sense???

Thanks I will try and get my body and eyes to look under the top. That appears to be the same as mine.

That’s just how they worked on my 2014. If you can slip your hand up into the blind to release the clips, the entire blind will come out. Putting them back in is just the opposite. Think about wearing a pair of gloves. Good luck!

there are a number of youtubee videos about MCD Innvoations install/removal/fix that might bee helpful. I'm diagnosing a problem with my shades (jammed in place) and have found the videos to be helpful.

The top valance is help in place by two or three screws which can be seen and gotten to even if it is a PITA. It does take a looong screwdriver/gun attachment to get to them. I was having a couple of side windows repaired and the repair guys took them down in about two seconds - but they do it all of the time and they were 20 y/o.
Good luck.
