Towing 2014 GMC Terrain

When towing the Terrain, can we use the rock shield/guard to protect the front ? We have Blue Ox tow bar and a guard that can be added to the front. We also have a 2015 Silverado that is set up for tow, and we thought we were told not to use the shield/guard when towing the truck, something about it overheating? I’m confused😳. Thanks

We tow our 2013 GMC Terrain but don't have or use a shield.
Some vehicles have a re-circulation pump up front (which can be aftermarket) and it needs airflow.
