Frame mounted hitch for e- bikes 2019 Micro Minnie 2108DS
We have a 2019 micro Minnie Winnie towable model 2108DS. We want to carry our e-bikes that weigh 70 pounds total on a rack that would go into a hitch receiver that is frame mounted. Any suggestions as to receivers that have worked well?

Any truck hitch place can weld a new receiver hitch on the frame of your Micro Minnie. But before you do consider what this will do to your hitch weight. This is likely not a good idea. Hanging weight like that off the end of your TT will lighten your tongue weight and can cause serious trailer sway issues that could lead to a deadly outcome.
PS, Winnebago has all manner of Winnie, Minnie, etc names. But getting the name of your TT correct is vital in asking question, finding parts etc. Yours is a 2019 Micro Minnie 2108DS not a micro Minnie Winnie towable model.

IMO, Don’t put that much weight on the rear of your 2108DS. It’s sensitive to weight balance, and besides that much weight on a rear frame hitch bouncing up and down likely to cause a failure. TT not like a motorhome. Dynamic loads on rear of TT much greater. The 2108DS is happiest when wet tongue weight is 575-600”. You should get weighed before making any weight balance decision. If the bikes are foldable, put them in bins, and secure the bins inside the trailer near the axles so they don’t slide. If you have a pickup, there are racks that attach to bed crossbars that can carry the weight of e-bikes. Or you can get a bed cap and carry them inside the truck bed.

I put the Ultra-Fab 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver for Trailer Frames from E trailer on my 2100BH Micro Minnie. Make sure you get a “certified welder” I’ve seen some that have failed because the welder did not factor the tensil strength of the load location. We mitigated the bounce weight by running a 5’ piece of 1 1/2”x .250 square tube down the center of the trailer frame (under the trailer) then we telescope a 7’bpiece of 1” x .250 square tube into it - where it telescopes out under the bike shelf - it is cut and strengthened by a gusset at a 40 degree angle and topped with a 10” piece of angle iron that bolts to our fold down shelf that is used to carry our bikes.
Just make sure you get some accurate weights at the scale and move you load around to accommodate the added rear weight - we put a stromberg Carlson trailer tray in the front for our generator. We are well within gross weight and tongue weight.

There’s a good YouTube video of a couple that bought 2 Rad Mini’s that fold up. They put them in Craftsman totes that they bought from Lowe’s. They were able to fit them in the pass thru compartment at the front of their TT.

I forgot to add. We bought 2 of the Rad Minis and find they are very well made, and even though they are smaller frames, they do weigh close to 65 lbs each. We bought a Hollywood E-bike hitch mounted rack to haul them. They wouldn’t fit comfortably inside our Minnie Winnie 22M. They have great range and have both pedal assist and a throttle.

Hey skipurple, We have been using a tongue mounted bike rack from Arvika.ca for 4 years now and love it. We originally installed it on our Winnie Drop, recently swapping it over to our 2023 2108DS Micro Minnie.
Somewhat pricy, but much more robust than other tongue mounted units.
We like being able to keep an eye on them in the rear view mirror. The max capacity is 200lbs, and the bikes are supported with the tires sitting in 2" gutters. They also have a 5" option. My initial concern was additional wind resistance and effect on fuel mileage, but we have not detected any changes. The one caveat is the height above ground and muscling up our conventional bikes, but we carry a folding step to assist us.
Good luck.
