Looks like you got some beautiful weather for January. Thanks for the report. We will consider this park for future excursions.

Is there a bike path into Monterey from the park?

Nice. Such a beautiful area. I really like the beach in the winter, but sunny like your visit. I went to Torrey Pines to hike during the King tides. Didn't have the large waves, but you couldn't walk on the beach without the very cold water going up to your knees as waves came in. We hiked the trails, which were pretty crowded due to the beach being mostly inaccessible.

About that picture of a cone shell in the tide pool pictures, was that found there? It's certainly not from California, but from the tropical Indo-Pacific. Hard to tell by the pic, but possibly conus magnificus or conus pennaceus.

There is a bike path just a few miles away. Unfortunately, to get to it by bike you have to cross the freeway and take a few surface streets. We liked the park, but there is not much within walking (or convenient biking) distance. However, it’s a short car trip to lots of shopping. Yes, we usually go a little further south this time of year, and really lucked out on the weather. :-)

Old Navy, looks like we were in the same area that week! Yes, the shell was found in the tide pool. :-) we left it there so someone else could also find it. I have never seen one like it, so I guess it makes sense it came from far away. Thanks for the info!
