I would do that if I could find one in the area.

See, here's what I don't understand... you are 100 miles from the Winnebago factory! Even if they can't tell you over the phone how to remove the radio they certainly could do so easily at the factory.

Also, you're just south of Minneapolis, MN and there are over a dozen Car Audio Installers in Minneapolis.

Not many of us have 2012 Meridians and have any experience removing this system, but you are lucky. Within a very reasonable distance you've got all the resources you need.

What I would like to do is remove the radio to see if all the connections are hooked up before I order a new radio. There is a chance that the connections have come loose. Then if need be I will order the new radio.

Also note that I have a Journey, not a Meridian.

I have talked to the factory and appointments are a ways out so if I can't get it fixed prior to the GNR, they say that is my best bet to get in, but I'd like to have an operating system before that.

My goodness, all I want to do is get the radio out to check it. I'm sure it's quite easy if one knows how and I just thought that just maybe someone on this forum would know.

Sorry Jim, I’m not trying to give you a hard time. Honest. Maybe someone will come along with knowledge on this. Maybe?

May I suggest you post your question on www.irv2.com? This forum is a spin off of irv2 and there are many thousands more users over there and maybe someone with direct knowledge will be able to help.

One last comment on factory service. Yes, appts are months out, especially after the snow melts, but they always take in RVs without appts as well. Sometimes it takes a few days to get in other times it’s right away. When I was there there were always 3 or 4 walk-ins waiting. Most got in by the second day. They allotted 3-days to do my service by appt. But finished in a day and a half. So, they took in a walk-in to use up the rest of my time. That may be more than you want to do. I just wanted to pass that info on to you.

Thanks for that. I already posted it on IRV2 as well with no results. My wife is still working so it makes it hard for us to break away for a two or three day wait at the factory so that's why we asked them about the GNR.

One problem is the radio is also the back up camera so as of now I have no camera at all. I do feel a bit lost without it.

If no one comes up with a solution I will get it done at the factory in July.

Ok, starting over here! No big thing!

We have a great online spot to look at things we can't normally see on the Winnebago interactive drawings here:
https://catalog3d.winnebagoind.com/menu/Parts.htm

We can narrow it down to looking a the dash parts and there are a few things I can spot that may help in the hunt for how it was put together. Sometimes that helps when getting it apart.
One biggie is that there appears to have been several different dash fronts used (bezels? is their name) but we can spot a couple bezel supports and a GPS support whch may be what you need to disconnect to remove. Much of that idea will take some looking and trial and error! Possibly a lot of time with our head stuck under the dash??

So the dash from here:
https://catalog3d.winnebagoind.com/2012/174277.htm

I spot a support GPS in yellow in this view. Click these to get a better look or go direct for the whole idea.

Looking closer at this support, it appears there are four holes for mounting?

But can a normal human get to it to get things loose or maybe look at connections on back?
Or does it mean we have to take the whole bezel off the dash front?
There are a couple clues on how that "might" work as they show two supports, one right, one left. I'm betting on a bunch of clips, etc. all along the front top and bottom maybe?

This one on right looks like a clip that they push the dash in and it clicks into place to hold. I might think we need to push in on the dash front to release pressure while pressing inward from the right to force the end of this clip off the lip of the bezel.

That may take two monkeys and a gorilla to do it!

But then on the left side there is also a support shown.

Maybe a start on finding things but it doesn't look like an easy way to just pop the radio, etc out of the dash if it has been screwed to a support in back!

I think you've found it. Now how does on man and not tow men and a gorilla get it out? I have found and removed the four screws.

Well, I tried all of that and today I even took it to Camping World and they didn't know how to remove it either. Frustration is setting in.

My 2012 36m monitor is intermittent. There is an external switch box that toggles video between turn signals and rear prior to the single video input on the radio. you have to take dash top off to see it. wiggle the box and it starts working. That may be your problem.

My touch screen is also going out so I'm looking a new head unit.

Thanks for the info.

River Park tells me that this radio system is a direct replacement for the current one.
XSG4NAX4S
They have them is stock in case someone else needs the information.
It is so new that it does not show up on their web site yet.
Here is a link for the manual for it.

I may have lost the REAL question so beg pardon if totally missing!
I did a look at wiring "front end" instead of the other point and may have found a "different look"?
Info on radio Journey 2012 36G?

Any info here worth looking?
Electrical section shows different attachment??

So how do you take the top off? I have only found one screw on the right side.
I don't want to mess anything up. The unit is pristine.

Jim-

I've been looking at Cortana and a number of pictures and posts on the Internet. Here is one approach:

- Remove the defroster vents in the front of the dash (padded portion by the windshield)
- If there are any screws holding the front of the dash down, remove them
- Push the front of the dash towards the rear of the coach to disengage clips on its underside, then lift it free
- See if you can now remove the top of the dash, leaving the front bezel in place. You may have to remove some screws to release the top of the dash from the structure under it.

Here is a picture of an 2008 Journey (from this post), which gave me the idea that you could try this approach. Your coach's dash (second picture) looks similar to the 2008's dash.

That looks like Mark has found a real clue as to how to get to things. If we tore dashes apart all the time we migh know where they hide the little tricks but if we don't do it all the time it's a big mystery!

Hint? If you are taking screws out within a hundred yards of the defrost vents, cover the vent first! There has to be some magic involved in how quick they can jump in that little bitty hole!

It's not magic, it's called "Murphy's Law". Well, in the Army it was anyway.

I decided that if I need to pull the dash that as long as I'm going that far I will install a new unit, so I ordered one from River Park. The tech I talked to said it is a direct replacement and that even the remote in the steering wheel will work with it.
Next we are going to the Winnebago Grand National Rally early to see if I can get it into their shop and have them install it. If not I will tear into it myself.
Thanks to all for your input.

As things worked out I was taking the unit to ABC Bus in Faribault, MN to install the AF1 Braking System, so I asked if they could install the radio. They did and I am thankful as it worked out to be a large undertaking.

They had it done in two days and everything works fine now.

Another radio problem.

Ironically, I took the old motorhome to have it washed as a buyer is stopping by Saturday and that radio quit.:

It's a 2002 Journey 36M DL and I believe the radio is a Jenson with a CD player and cassette player as well. Has anyone replaced that one?

Here's the radio. I can't find the book so I'm not sure what it is and I can't get it out. (sound familiar)? It just went dead yesterday. I've checked all fuses and circuit breakers that I can find. Even under the dash.
