I would expect that there's enough slack in the wires to drop it down a few inches at least after removing the four screws in the mounting brackets. That would be enough to be able inspect it...

I guess if were me I'd take the shade down and inspect it--maybe it was installed 'upside down'.

OnEdit: Does the driver's side have the yellow/black buttons?
