Slide Problem Not the Slide!

Driver side slide been a problem from day 2, finally found out what the problem is:

The slide topper.

1 the rod it rolls up on isn't as stiff as it needs to be

1a if it has tension springs they're way too weak for the job

2 the fabric loosens up thanks to flapping in the wind and soon runs crooked when the slide is retracted initiating major mis-alinement problems both pulling the slide in and putting it out.

Just had it fixed again, last time. Next time it begins to cause problems it's coming off and staying off.
