How to make my BriskAir colder

Hello,
I have a 1984 Winniebago with a Brisk Air Air conditioner on the roof. When I turn on the cooler. It doesn't seem to be blowing out cold air. I would appreciate any thoughts or advise. It is 107 degrees out right now I would like to running once it cools down outside as to not put so much on my generator in the heat. Thanks for your time.

Do you think the compressor is running? Air conditioner refrigerant systems are a closed system, that is they should not need refigerant added unless there is a leak. Most air conditioners have an over pressure and under pressure switch to avoid damage to the system inthe event it is over or undercharged. The compressor relies on the lubricant mixed with the refrigerant to lubricated the compressor. I have ASE certification for automobile air conditioner systems. If the compressor is not running it may be due to loss of refrigerant. In that case, the leak needs to be located and repaired. Then the system can be evacuated and recharged.Maybe the thermostat is not turning compressor on? It can be several things.

Automobile and home A/C units have ports to recharge the refrigerant if needed on the A/C unit. However, this isn’t usually the case with rooftop RV A/Cs. Normally, RV units are disposable if the refrigerant line leaks and needs recharged.

Fans and fan motors are serviceable but refrigerant not so much. Especially if your unit is 36 years old.
