floor fan is haunted

2005 Adventurer 37B

When I turn on the aux switch the floor fans come on. I checked the panel and the fan is on auto, the cold/heat switch is in the off position and changing the speed from low to hi makes no difference. The dash switches are all off and engine is off. What could be driving these floor fans?

A relay stuck closed somewhere in the wiring?

On models where the MotorAid option is offered (engine coolant is circulated to a heat exchanger on the water heater and a small radiator in the back to heat the rear of the coach while driving), the Aux Fan switch turns on the fan at the rear radiator and on many models that air goes into the floor ducts. Could that be what you are hearing?

Thanks for the reply. I do not believe I have that option. I bought this MH used and I have seen nothing in the documents or physically that indicates I do.

Roger that Sir. We have the Motor Aid and also do not have the optional rear furnace. When you say "Floor fan", may I ask, what floor fan? Are you talking about the gas furnace? I'm not sure of your model but, many Winnys and Itascas came with basement A/C-Heat and the fan for that unit can be turned on and off without engaging cooling or heating. Could that fan be on in yours? Although, it's the upper (ceiling) vents that you'd be feeling the air from. Not sure on this one. Let us know what you find out.

Just came back from RV and the fans did not start up when turning on Aux switch.... strange

I would suggest hanging a bag of chicken bones on the fan to see it that makes the spirits leave.

First MH was a 2001 Itasca Sunrise. It had the motoraid system which was only to warm the hot water while driving.

It also had an automotive heater cage fan in the floor duct (supposedly to force air to the back vent) just behind the engine hump. Can't remember if it worked off of an "Aux" switch. From day one the fan would squeal and sometimes not run. Dealer had to pull the water heater to get at it from the right front bay area. Still never did work right until the day we traded six years later. It never made a difference in air flow to the back area.
