F53 Welding modifying frame Contacting Ford

Recently the Catalytic converter was stolen off my 2008 F53 Sightseer. I was thinking about creating a deterent to future theft. So two questions

Im thinking about attaching a skid plate over the area but expect that there are constraints to welding or drilling the frame. Im sure i have come across something on this but cant find it nor who to contact, other than regulare customer service, for information on modifying the frame.

Second question is to poll all the intelegent people out there to see what you have done. Ive seen the CAT device for around $700 USd and can build something for way cheaper. Ive seen a skid gaurd device. Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
