Can anyone tell me what the average fuel efficiency is on an '04 or '05 Winnebago Vectra (40ft)?
My husband and I currently have an '02 Winnebago Brave (32ft), but he want to move up to a Diesel Pusher. We'd like to get an idea of what sort of milage to expect per gallon.
Any insight would be appreciated.

We are expecting (we pick up our 40AD Horizon with the ISL 400 engine next week) around 8 MPG after break-in based on what I have read in the forums. This should be with towing a car.
Welcome to the Winnie forum!

My 36' started out at about 6.9 MPG, now at 10,000 miles, it is at about 8.5 mpg. We hope to get it to 10.

I have an 05 horizon with the ISL400, it has about 6200 miles on it. My trip tec computer says that it has averaged 6.8 miles per gallon since our pick up with 20 miles on it . On the intial trip back from Iowa it was a new toy and we cruised at 75 most of the way . Keeping trac on shorter trips now that the fun is turning more conservative ($2.50 per gal )and speed average around 65 highway we have been averaging 7.4 to 7.6 per, towing a grand cherokee sometimes. Break in is still 25000 miles away so I hope it still improves. I'm not sure about the ISC350's mileage but I would highly recomend the 400ISL.

I have the '04 40AD Vectra with the 350 Cummins and 7,000 miles on it. I did get 10 one time and 11 one time, but normal us 7.5 to 7.8 while pulling a 4100lb Grand Cherokee.
I try and keep my speed under 60.

Thanks for the info....so anywhere from 7-9 mpg would be the realistic expectation huh?
That's about what we've been getting w/ our Brave.

I have a 2002 Adventurer 35U, with the 8.1 Vortec and 5 speed allison, and we tow a 2004 Suzuki XL-7 weight (3,800 lbs) and the average on the long trips we have made towing and notowing, we average anywhere from 6.7 to 7.5 and that is driving between 60 and 65 almost all the time. I have kept mileage on all of the RV we have had over the years and from a 78 440 dodge to a Ford 460 to the 454 Chevy and now to the 8.1 Vortec, really not a great deal of change in mileage, from the 78 440 dodge which was a 21' Winny Brave and that averaged 7 mpg regardless of how you drove, and now to 6.7 to 7.5 mpg on a newer heavier MH, not a great deal of improvement over the years. Some folks get great mileage according to what they say, but this is the best I can do without modifications, so I can't see a great deal of difference in mileage for the cost I would pay for a diesel.

For comparison, I used to have a '03 34ft Brave with a 340 hp GM and averaged 6.3 mpg for 8600 miles. I currently have a '04 Meridian with a 350 hp CAT and have averaged 7.4 for 12,300 miles. I'm towing the same toad.

We have an Itasca Horizon with the 350 cummins. We have had good trips and bad trips, it all depends on the traveling conditions as to how good of fuel mileage you will get. We have actually had fuel mileage in the teens, but that was with a very nice tail wind and a very light trailer, and also as low as 7 in a head wind situation. I think are overall average is around 8.6 mpg. We now have 25,600 miles on the coach, it does seem to be getting a little better, but only time will tell. I'm with Pap, Penna, if we didn't drive so many mile with the coach I'm not sure we would have purchased the DP. Well, after driving the DP and other MH's, we probably still would have bought the DP.
Cheers!
