Dometic Fridge Latch - 2012 Itasca Navion iQ 24G

I’ve been lucky not to have had any problems with my 2012 Itasca Navion iQ 24G. Consequently I’m not very good at knowing where to go now and this is my first post of this kind. I hope I’m posting in the right place. Being alone with no “fixing” skills, I don’t know how to proceed. Recently, a small piece of plastic fell out of the latch on the inside of my Dometic fridge. As a consequence, the fridge door comes open due to centrifugal force when going around turns. Dometic said they stopped making the part (which was apparently made in Europe) in 2015. They also said an after-market part was available “somewhere” at $100, but the Dometic tech said it would NOT work. An RV service place suggested getting someone to fashion some sort of latch on the outside that would hold the door closed. I’d really rather see if there might be something better than that - like a replacement part.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sandi

I had to use "The Norcold Guy" to get some replacement parts for my fridge.

You could try

https://www.thedometicguy.com/

and see if he/they can help. If you haven't already tried them/him?
