How to fill water heater tank

Sorry for the "newbie-ness" of this question, but I'm puzzled. How does the water heater tank get filled if you're connected to the city water? I understand that the water pump fills it when you're using your fresh water tank, but does the city water inlet automatically fill the water heater when you bypass the fresh water tank? We have a 2014 Vista 31KE.

Thanks!

Greetings TWD76,
Whether it be from the water pump or the city connection, your water system is pressurized for both the hot & the cold sides of your plumbing. It should be noted that if you have winterized your motorhome, you must open the hot water tap to purge-out the air from your hot water tank.
Welcome to the forum.

Jot down the make, model of your water heater and go to https://bryantrv.com/docs.html and download the service manual for your WH. It will help understand how and why it works too.
