I've researched these for several months now. The general consensus is that if you want a good one that will last and with low power consumption the most important thing is the compressor. Get a good compressor like a Secop (formerly Danfoss). The cheap fridges use unknown Chinese compressors and may last a year or may last 10 years, and they use more power and lack good insulation, pretty much a gamble with those. For regular use I'd look at Iceco as mentioned, Engel is another high quality one, Dometic uses their own compressor but reportedly quality although I would rate Iceco and Engel higher. Also ARB gets high marks on the Jeep forums. Another important feature is insulation, the good ones have it, the cheap ones are somewhat lacking. Most brands do have covers available for extra cost which adds more insulation.
There are a few other options to decide on, for instance some can be all fridge or all freezer, some are fixed with 2 separate compartments and some have a removeable partition for the best of both worlds. Also some have chest style lids while others have them hinged to open long ways. The good ones are heavy, around 50 lbs. Iceco is starting a new line of Aluminum ones but beware, some of the best names also sell lower quality units to compete with the cheaper ones and will not have the quality of compressor or insulation as their flagship models and only share the name.
If you don't see the compressor details keep looking, if it has a quality compressor they're going to tell you about it, if it doesn't they're going to keep the info a secret.
