Width restrictions
We are considering purchasing a 26T and noticed a warning regarding the width. Upon research I see there are a few states that restrict width to 96 in. except on federal highways. The 26T is 101.5 in. We almost always try to avoid the interstate highways. Are these restrictions typically enforced? Have any of you Class C owners found that you had to stay on the interstates in these states? Delaware, New Mexico, New York, Tennessee, Texas and DC are at least some of the states that seem to have these limits.

I have never encounted any enforcement of the width restriction while traveling with my RV, a Winnebago Vista. It is 8' 5.5" wide (101.5").
Note that a standard Semi-Trailer Box Dimension is 8' 6" (102"), and so far as I know, all states support the standard width Semi-Trailer to transport and deliver stuff.

Our 2015 Winnebago is 101.5" also and that does NOT include the mirrors which are not measured when determining width. I have traveled through 46 of the contiguous U.S. and have never had a problem.

I have wondered about this same thing myself.
Here is the summary chart of allowed RV Width
I am sure that I could make my Minnie Winnie 22M fit in any state, even if it does not really qualify. I just need to keep my speed up!

Better to ask forgiveness than.....
We inadvertently got on a main street that had signs of no vehicle over 12 tons. Oops, I'm almost 24 tons...there was absolutely no place to turn around and back track. Made it without incident.
You should not have any problems with your width.
p.s., don't quote me on that!!!

I suppose if you were in an accident or other incident in which width was an issue you could have a problem. Otherwise, I've never read a post anywhere where someone had a problem. LEOs have too much to do as it is and aren't going to go around measuring RVs.

We live in Texas and run our 27N all over the state without issue. Most of the state parks in Texas are located on two lane rural highways, so seeing RVs of all sizes on all kinds of roads is routine. I wouldn't worry about it.

As a risk manager dealing with auto insurance, the issue you could run into is your insurer giving you grief if you had an accident related to your vehicle being too wide. If you stay on roads that permit trucks, you shouldn't have any issue. Most truck boxes from 5-tons and more are wider than 8 feet.

In the 3-RVs I've owned since 2008 every one of them was 8.5' wide. I've never seen any warning, notice, road sign or caution that I was too wide to travel on that road. But then we're only talking about traveling 60,000+ miles so maybe I was just lucky?

I have been full-time with a Sightseer 33c for 5 years and the only restrictions I've encountered are in road construction and the narrowest was 11ft which is plenty doable just makes you pucker a little bit
