Step having difficulty

I have a 2004 Minnie 31C. The exterior step extends, but when the door closes it struggles to retract fully. Is this a lubrication issue? I don't know where to lubricate it. How do I troubleshoot this?

A shot of silicone spray at all of the metal rotation/hinge points usually does the job.

Mine weren't fully closing. I got underneath the rv (not directly under the steps) and watched things move when the door was opened and closed. I ended up having to disconnect the step mechanism (a bar) then remove the motor (4 bolts). I saw no issues but when I reassembled everything it was good to go. I think there was just some junk in the grease that was causing the issues. It's pretty easy to take things apart under there and if you really have to replace anything parts are available (I know my parts are on Amazon - I checked before messing with it).

Thanks, I will try lubricating the hinge points. And cross my fingers :-)

Use a silicon spray that is a lubricant after using a gunk remover like WD-40 to the moving parts. This area is exposed to stuff thrown up by the front tire and a stickly lubricant will only collect it more quickly in the future.

Check also that it does not still stick after using the WD-40 as there may be a pivot pin that is worn and needs to be replaced.
