Propane off or on while driving

I’ve always closed my LP tanks when towing my fifth wheel. Now that I have a Vita 24P coach do I need to follow the same practice or does it make a big difference?. Mostly thinking about the safety pros and cons. Thanks!

With a trailer, I understand why you would shut-off the propane as you wouldn't be able to hear the propane leak detector sound if say, for example, a range burner were left on leaking fuel. In a motorhome, you are cognizant of what is happening with your propane appliances, and it is fine to leave it on as you travel. For example, your refrigerator needs the propane to operate (at least mine does anyway.) Yes, just leave it on.

I left mine on when we had a two way fridge and were driving. The only time I turned it off was when refilling the propane tank.

When I had a TT I always turned mine off while driving. But with my Class C and now my Class A I never turn it off except when having the tank refilled.

Not saying what you should do - but that's what I do.

If you plan to travel thru a tunnel, the propane should be turned off. I remember that before entering the tunnels under Chesapeake Bay, there are notification signs and turnouts.

Leaving it on keeps the beer cold and the water hot, seems like a no-brainer to me.

I am along with the leave it on group. Mine gets turned off only on refills

Frequent questions and true answer fits all. I leave it on for the frig and only off when filling or the odd chance of a tunnel. Those tunnels tend to be on the east coast more than other parts but I do watch for signs.
Some feel it is a hazard to drive with it on, due to chances of a fire after a bad wreck. My thoughts on that are gloomy because I figure that type wreck in an RV leads me to believe the fire is just a small point of added hazard. When I see RV turned over in wrecks, there is little left to worry about , so go ahead and burn the pile of trash!

I do work on keeping debris cleared from the back of the frig and furnace where the fire blowing around might catch labels or that sort of stuff on fire while driving!

I’m with the off group, but I have a 12v compressor fridge. When I had an RV with absorption fridge, I left it on.

Include us in the "on" group.

However, out of an abundance of caution, if we fuel up at a gas station we turn off our fridge. If we fuel up on the "all diesel pump" truck side, we don't feel the need. (flashpoint minus 49F vs 140F)

Besides, with our regulation happy nanny g'mnt, if it were dangerous, our beautiful painted swoops and decals would be plastered with big yellow warning stickers.

We have always been LP on while traveling people unless there was a statutory reason to turn it off ie.; refueling or a tunnel/bridge.

I may rethink that with the current rig, it has a residential fridge. The only things we use LP for are the water heater (occasionally) and the furnaces.

However, leaving it on would keep me from trying to figure out WTH the furnace won't come on at 2 in the morning...

I had that issue too. A senior moment.
Of course the answer was as close as the gas range. No ignite, no propane. Duh.

The vita has a residential refrigerator, no propane necessary. So choice is up to you, Not sure which generator you have but if propane you could leave on and in hot weather use your house air conditioner with generator while traveling... otherwise turn it off.
