Have a 2017 Spirit 22R aka Minnie Winnie that I have had since new. Now have the opportunity for longer trips.
Have always had the problem of keeping it in it’s lane. Had the toe in set when it was new which helped a little…far from perfect. Plan to take to the shop that did the original work(when the weather improves).
Looking for ideas. Ones I think might help include setting caster(may need additional parts), a front stabilizer bar and a steering damper.
Wyatt, I would be the last to know; but, is there a difference between a steering stabilizer and a steering damper? Will be taking the MOHO to a place that I think will have a expert; but, want to tap into the knowledge from the members of this forum. Appreciate your help.
A steering damper just dampens any oscillations, acting exactly the same as a shock absorber.
A steering stabilizer, IMO, includes the damper, but also includes a centering spring which resists change and aids in return to center. Caster returns the tires to a straight ahead position due to the action of leading the tires turning point. The stabilizer does this with a centering spring.
Thanks to all the posters. It turns out that my problem was completely fixed by adding the part that allowed caster to be adjusted! Lived with this issue since 2017. No more wandering….
