Exclamation '08 View

Hey - Ghost and Julie here - looked at an '08 View today with 45k miles. Very sharp unit and apparently very well maintained. Like a lot of things about it, particularly that it is a diesel. This one is listed at $74K and they would take $63K. However KBB high retail is only $57K. Any thoughts?

Julie,

All I can advise is that you can probably get 25% off the MSRP of a new one, so offhand they appear to be asking for 2/3rds the price of a brand new unit that comes with a warranty, and, well, 6 years from now won't be 12 years old. A new coach would also likely have various little improvements which might or might not be of much value; I haven't studied the View that much.

RVtrader is showing several '08 Views anywhere from 49k to 58k. The offer to you sounds a bit high, unless it has a lot of added on features. Look at the other '08 Views on the internet then make him and offer based on what you see in that range. You can always go up in your offer.

Best of luck & Happy Trails!!

$74K sounds anout what my father-in-law paid for his '08 Navion. New.

His NADA value is like $35K. His is the non-slide on, the others have a NADA around $48K. I know Sprinter bring a bit more than book, so maybe your $57K is about right? Maybe? Condition means a lot...

I bought a 2008 View 2 1/2 years ago for $59k very clean 18k miles. They do hold their value quite well, but low $50's is where you should hold out for.

I just sold an 06 View J with 88K for mid-$40K. I think $63 is high. In excellent condition it should be around mid $50s. Have you looked on the Yahoo Groups View-Navion site? There's a 2010 with 28K miles listed for $62K. The most expensive one is a 2013 with 15K miles for $79K. Also, for resale purposes, upgrades are meaningless unless it's something you really want such as HWH levelers or satellite TV. Don't let anyone blow smoke about stuff that has no value to you.

The diesels are just breaking in at 60K-70K miles. Don't worry about mileage as long as they have maintenance records. Good luck.

The asking price is crazy high, and even $63k is out-of-sync with the market. If it's a dealer they've just marked it up sky-high to start the negotiations, and if it's a private party they have way too high expectations. Around $55k would be a fair price.
