Vista 26HE galley vent upgrade to power vent

Has anyone upgraded their galley vent to a power/fan vent. I did a little exploring and pulled the trim on the OEM vent and I located two wires tucked in a channel in the styrofoam in the ceiling. the codes on the two wires are:

White wire: 182700-01-0 00(B) JM1
Yellow wire: 182700-01-000(B) JB5

There is no power to either wire and I am wondering, before I go to the trouble of running new wires, if I can use these wires to power the fan.

Oldtrooper, JB5 should be 12VDC and JM1 is the ground side. JM is used in a lot of places so it should be hot unless Winnebago did not make a connection some place.

Rossi6998 had the dealer do the install using the wires you mention. I've thought about doing the upgrade as well...

I upgraded the vent with a Fantastic about 5 months ago. The wires tucked back in the styrofoam had power on them, and I never tested to find the source of the power. I just assumed the wires belonged to the ceiling lighting circuit.

If there is no power check your cb panel. My journey had a plug in the fridge circuit breaker as they did not use this circuit because I had the res fridge option. When I moved the cb panel I found the unused wires and hooked them up. Behind my res fridge i saw the other end of the wires and ended up using them for a 12v receptical.

macnut.....just finished replacing the bathroom fan with the Vortex II. If you do upgrade, remove the fan blade of the Vortex II when you are installing. there are a lot of complaints of needing a 3rd hand during the install. Removing the fan blade allows you access to the wires after you have screwed it in place. Otherwise you will need 3rd hand. Oh, also if you do, take the fan blade off the old fan and install it in the range fan......apparently from so other posts this increases the blades from 3 to 6 and quiets the range fan. I'll be doing that tomorrow.

Hey Oldtrooper... Like Macnut said, I had the dealer install a power vent fan (Fantastic Fan) in the galley. They got power from the light near the vent. I don't know anything further. Sorry.

Rossi6998....I might end up doing the same thing. I was surprised to see these two wire when I pulled the trim. Tapping into the light certainly makes life simpler. Curiosity has got me going on these two wires for now, it they don't work out I'll be going to the light. Lol
