Could not find anyplace that worked. Second, even if I could find a good place to put it, anyone could just open the plastic screen door slide and reach in to open the bolt.

What I wanted to do was install a deadbolt, could not find anyplace to do that. It seemed easy to do until I actually tried to do it, but then that is pretty much the story of my life ...
This is probably one of those 'picture is worth 1,000 words' situations. I can take a photo and post it if you'd like.

Beyond that, I'm not sure how a deadbolt would work -- at least not on my door. The barrel bolt works well.

Yes, you can slide the panel open and reach in and unlock it, but you have to know it's there, and there is a trick to it.

So it offers *some* security -- more than the stock door -- but it certainly is not the equivalent of those high-strength screen doors I've seen on some houses.

I'm lucky in that one key fits every thing except the dead bolt. Everything includes the ignition. Also, we have electronic locks for door and compartments. With that said I think others have hit upon it very well.

Locks are to keep the honest people out. A carpenters pry bar will rip the door and dead bolt locks right out of the frame, or as stated, bust a window. I'd be surprised if anyone nearby would even get out of bed at 3 a.m. but there probably would not be that much noise. With my double pane windows I know I would not hear it. My dog might though.

One has to do what one feels is right for their own peace of mind. I'm living the dream.

Only got one key for door & basement doors with mine. Looked around and found a blank that worked fine. Have a few extra if anyone needs them. KS101 / ilco.

You got a deadbolt key also, correct?

Then, there’s this expensive “more secure” screen door. It’s interesting, and now, they ship to the U.S.

The new Winnebago Ekko is supposed to have a truly secure and locking screen door. The photos and video that I have seen show screening material similar to that used for secure home screen doors and the door is supposed to have a deadbolt lock.

DW wants a secure screen door and I was thinking about ordering one of the doors shown by your link but I wonder if secure doors like that will start showing up in new RVs. While the Ekko has not yet shown up at dealers I have seen other new RVs with more secure doors than is standard.
