parallax 7100 can not 12v power sorce
I have a 2007 23.5 navion with a parallax 7100 converter. Recently when I disconnected the shore power all of the 12v items went dead. when I reconnect the shore power everything works again. where does the converter get the 12v supply from when it's unhooked from shore power. Can anyone tell me. I have pulled the converter out for inspection and it does not show any damage. Help Keysjunk , Key Largo, Florida.

Well, all of your 12 volt would come from your batteries.....
Have you checked the voltage of the batteries with a multi-meter or something when the unit is not plugged into shore power?
Have you checked the water level in the batteries lately?
Could also be a battery disconnect switch?
Parallax chargers have a bad rap for sure. In postings, they are noted to over charge and ruin batteries and an array of bad things.

You have a house battery switch? Is it in the off position? Kind of sounds like this might be your problem, or a dead house battery.

next suspect, a breaker is tripped?
When the converter is plugged in, do you get a reading on the outbound side of the converter?

When the shore power is plugged in all systems work fine. When I UNplug the 12V system is dead. I quess, what i am asking is where is the wires at the battery that feeds the converter, when it is unplugged. The heavy wires that are 12V in the control box, go back under the rear closet. Do not go to the house battery area. I do not see any burnt damage on the converter it self. Looks like a new unit. Thanks for your Help, Keysjunk

Your converter does nothing when unplugged. It only comes into play when powered up with shore power.
If the batteries are good, you need to follow their wires to your power center. There may be a hi-amp breaker or fuse and then a switch along the way.
When you plug in, the converter is bypassing all of that and sending power to the power center.

Well FYI, I once lost all (when off shore power) all 12v power. Turned out the main house12v circuit breaker had popped! Reset breaker an all was good!
