Step Motor 2020 View 24V

Step motor suddenly stopped retracting steps. Local dealer wants $500 to replace motor. Looks like an easy job. Winnebago part#094707-05-708. Any aftermarket motors of same design?

I had to remove the step motor from my 07 coach. It was a very easy job, not sure how much has changed from then to now but its worth a try.

I would try Lichtsinn RV first off. They are the go to winnebago parts people. Doing a google search many motors came up. Do your homework should be easy

Good Luck

There are actually hundreds of places to buy the needed parts. The harder part is getting the step off and then it ispretty simple totake things apart to get down to what part has actually failed.
If you hear the motor run, it has not failed! then it is one of the other small parts gearsbeing one of the common failures.
But the whole set of gears and connections is around a $100 if you want to replace the whole unit.
OR it may be a common little nylon gear that costs $3 and you grease it well before you put it back together!
Some examples from a quick search for "Lippert step parts":

"https://www.google.com/search?q=lippert+step+gears&oq=lippert+step+gears& aqs=chrome..69i57j0i22i30j0i390l4.5335j0j15&source id=chrome&ie=UTF-8

First we have to find the model of step ( on the label?) and then find what part has actually failed before we do a search for that exact part! It's not rocket science to spot a burred off gear!

But it can be greasy!

I just had three of the four bolts that hold the gear/motor assembly to the plate break. Allowed the steps to fall free, while I was on them, no fun. Easy to disassemble and get it out where you can work on it. I replaced the broken bolts only to fine another crack in the actuator arm that required I replace the gear assembly. That required removing the motor which was not too hard, Found everything I needed on Amazon with a two day ship.

Here is a link to the Lippert IMGL step test procedure. I would start with this and call Lippert @ 432.547.7378 they have excellent tech support for steps. They helped me figure out my step problem. Here's the link --> https://lci-support-doc.s3.amazonaws...cd_0001628.pdf

Btw, the control board will stop working and not show voltage, if there is a problem such as gearbox binding. The way to reset it, it to fix the problem, then open and close the door 7 times quickly then on the 8th time you will get voltage if the control board is good. I hope this helps.

I replaced the step motor in my 2014 View. It was pretty easy so definitely try it yourself. I was able to find a replacement motor on Amazon for under $100 - it was awhile ago so I don’t remember the exact amount. Do watch out for pinching hazards as you work with the steps especially when you plug in the new motor! Safety first!

Step motor problem

I had a similar problem with my 2013 Itasca Sunova while we were staying just outside of Yellowstone. There was a RV repair person that lived in the park so l called him. After a quick look at the problem he told me that I could order a replacement motor from Amazon and replace it myself if I was handy. He didn’t even want to accept anything for looking at it, but I insisted and he accepted! The motor came with in two days and I replaced it myself. Hopefully, yours will be as easy to replace as mine was! Good Luck!
