I have a 34 foot Journey, and the day-night shade that is behind the couch suddenly fell down because the string broke.
Anyway I took the shade to a repair place and I am paying $65.00 to have it restrung.
I do not have the time or the knowhow right now to deal with it, so am paying the price.
So- How hard is it to do it yourself?
Any special know how , or tools?
I am anticipating future failures of the other day-night blinds.

If you do a search on this subject you will find a mass of information. I think that every aspect of this subject has been extensively covered.

I removed and restrung the 60 inch day/night shade yesterday, used 1.2mm string purchased at Joanns Fabrics.
Go to "FIND" and type in Day/Night Shade Restring this will give you previous posts and as you page down the WIT diagram will give you directions.
I also used a crochet needle to pull the string through.
This was the first one I did and it was not as involved as I was led to believe, figure 2 hours for first one others should be much faster

Here's the link to the Winnebago directions:
http://www.winnebagoind.com/resources/service/pdfs/2006...20Night%20Blinds.pdf
(in PDF)
I was going to try and do it myself but since we're still under warranty, I just had the dealer do it while we were getting other things taken care of.
I cringe, though, at having to do that. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't have to do it.

I just had the pleasure of restringing my first day/night shade last week. We had just sold our Journey and was making sure everything was all cleaned up for the new owner when ...... Drat, a string broke.
I spent 2 hours going to 6 different stores looking for string. Finally as I last resort, I went to a Joanne Fabrics and found the right string. (Mental note: Go there first next time)
The actual restringing took about 15 minutes so depending on whether you count the time spent getting supplies or not, the job goes pretty quickly.

Fixmyblinds.com shows actual string sizes and prices. Print out the diagram from the Winnebago website, order the string, find a picnic table in a warm spot, take your time. After the first few shades you will be able to do it with your eyes closed. (you have an 02 coach you are due for the full boat soon)

Hi Ron...We have done three in the living area and rather than mess with the one in the bedroom we replaced it with a Bali Cellular, double sided shade.
It was an easy install and so far it is great, although we have not moved since installation. We move on Wednesday and will then know if it stays up while underway.
They do supply a system to hold the bottom rail in place but I hope we don't need it.
Next time we see you, come on over and I will show it to you.
Regards
