2002 Adventurer 32V, F53 chassis headlights work on bright, but not on dim. I suspect they’re blown, it’s obvious the driver’s side is. Am I right in thinking the best way to find correct replacement is to take the old one to the parts store?

yes but be prepared with the year and model of the chassis.
