Thumbs up Baggage compartment latch

We just got back from a two week trip to Colorado and, as usual, there were a couple of routine maintenance and repair items that needed attention. One of these was to replace several broken baggage compartment latches which turned out to be a pretty easy fix. The only real difference is that the latches on my '04 Itasca were attached with 3/16" X 1/4" aluminum rivets instead of the Robertson head screws depicted in this video, which were really easy to drill out with a 3/16" drill bit. I opted to replace the rivets with identically sized aluminum rivets instead of trying to use any type of threaded fastener. FYI, these latches are pretty inexpensive and available for $8 or $10 each from a number of different local and online sources.

What type of coach do you have? Does yours not have lift support struts on your baggage compartments?

Well,
What year/make/model/chassis coach are you asking about? On many Winne's and Itascas, the doors are held open by gas struts.
