Minnie Winnie 22R Tow Capabilities

We purchased a 2019 22R back in Nov of last year. We are currently just camping locally over long weekends, but we will eventually start taking longer trips once I retire. We are thinking we might want a TOAD at that time. We are considering a few different vehicles that would weigh in the neighborhood of 4,200 to 4,800 pounds. We have an F350 model chassis with a tow capacity of 7,500 pounds.

What experience do people on here have with towing similarly weighing vehicles. I'd love to hear your input on this. Thanks.

Greetings Kirkster1520,
My 22M is pretty-much the same as your 22R in terms of overall vehicle size. The beauty of a shorter Class C is that you don't really need a Toad. You can just park your 22R creatively, looking for an area to back the rear-end over, or parking-lot end-spots and the like. If you go to a destination where you would really need a Toad, just rent a car locally. You would be light-years ahead financially.
I would recommend that you see if you can do without before you make the plunge.
Welcome to the forum.

I believe this is the manual for your 22R, if you did not get this with your Motor Home you can print it here. There are several things to consider, as this is not a simple question. Pay close attention to Chapter 12, and you need to find your Yellow DOT sticker, It will list your GVWR, (gross vehicle weight rating) , and you will want to weigh your vehicle to make sure you are not over this number. Once you know that you need to determine your GCWR (gross combined weight rating). or in other words how much your motor home and towed vehicle weighs. Lastly you should look at your hitch rating, is should be labeled with the Hitch Class, max towing weight and max tongue weight. Lastly, you will need some sort of braking system in the vehicle you intend to tow.

If you need it here is a link for your manual, find your Minnie Winnie in the list.
