Currently, we have a 30' 5th wheel (2006) and take it camping on land that we own that is only accessible by a maintained dirt/gravel road the last 30 minutes of the drive. We are thinking of buying a new View 24D and selling the 5th wheel, but wonder how the View will do on the gravel roads. Does anyone have experience with maintained gravel roads and/or traveling on roads that might not be maintained?
I drive my ERA on gravel/dirt/unpaved roads all the time. It's not the smoothest ride, and you have to occasionally drive under 25mph if the road is particularly rough, but it's completely doable.
When we camp on BLM land in Kern County, CA, in fact, we end up driving several miles on SAND... not packed, not firm, but dry, loose, sand. We've made it home every time. :-)
