To Reserve or Not?

We started camping for the first time this past summer. Every evening we would look at a map and decide where we wanted to go the next day (never more than 4 hours driving worked for us) and then used an app called "ParkAdvisor" to find campgrounds in that 3 or 4 hour radius. The one time we didn't make reservations was Labour Day weekend and ended up at a less than desirable place, but lesson learned!

One thing that concerns me is we don't have a toad so when boondocking how to you keep someone from taking over your spot if you go away for a while in the rig?

Carry an "OCCUPIED" laminated sign with you, and hang it over the site number post.

That might be more because it was Labor Day weekend than anything else.

Absolutely... we had no problems finding places except that last weekend of the summer - in 2020, when things were just opened up again!

My wife packs clothes for ALL climates, even when we are just going to the desert in July. Then, when we are at the destination, I hear this every morning: "Why did I bring this?"

You don't even want me to start on our 4 to 5 month summer trips out of the heat. Think going north, but returning via warm climates.

Absolutely agree but #3 needs some clarification.

Husband:

Tools to fill one bay
Shaving gear
Two pair of jeans, one for each week
One pair of good walking/working shoes


Wife:

30 sets of clothes
15 to 20 pair of shoes, mostly matching clothes.
15 to 20 handbags to match shoes

2 large suitcases of beauty supplies
The rest of the bays filled with accessories and supplies.

Sorry if I missed any, I'm just a pack mule and not the decider of what to take.
