3m filter bypass plug

Just bought a coach with the 3m undersink filtration system but no bypass plug to be found. Checking on-line prices for a replacement leaves me wondering in the neighborhood of $40 for a piece of plastic?

So - I'm thinking (always dangerous) I'm going to replace the filter anyway. Pictures of the pricey plug show show its just a fitting with a solid bottom. I'm going to replace the filter anyway. What about I take the old filter, saw it off leaving the top with fitting. and plug it with caulk/epoxy? Thoughts?

Replace the whole thing with a different type of filter holder. There is nothing magical about the 3M filter/housing.

Some bypass when you remove the filter. Mine does.

Same here, I think 1/4 or so turn removes it. With it out, there is a valve that closes in the fitting I believe. In fact when mine was new, the filter was in place but not tightened and I didn't realize it until the time came to change the filter

Thanks, that would be nice and could explain the lack of a plug. Think I'll put a bucket underneath when I test tho.

Don't know. I show a shipping charge of $7.00 which for a small piece of plastic seems way excessive. Running the part number shows its part of an Everpure system so don't know it would work with 3M. That search also turned up one on Amazon for $16 no shipping Prime) but one revview said it didn't work in a Navion. All told I think I'll give it a pass - thanks tho.
