2007 Journey vent over passenger seat

We just got our Journey 36G and in looking things over to understand the system I have a question. I see what looks like some kind of vent over the passenger seat on the roof in the front cap. I can't find any reference to it in the documentation so far. It's white plastic, about 2 inches round with vent holes towards the top. Picture below.

Thanks

Wind sensor for your WeatherPro power awning.

I have the same style wind sponsor, but it was disabled before I purchased the coach. I've read that style usual fails, so I have made no effort to fix it. Does your work?

2007 Journey vent over passenger seat

I don't know if it works. We have not gotten a chance to use it yet. Only been able to camp once with it so far and there were 25-30 mph gusts so didn't try to deploy awning. Is there a replacement style?

We have used the common sence method: if winds pick up, we retract our awning. Easier than researching other options. Cheaper, too. Our wind detector is disabled by an inconspicuous switch on the back side of the control box.

The paperwork from the original owner suggests they were unhappy with wind sensor performance from the start.

Weather pro sensor! Wind speed & Temp ( low temp). Suppose to automatically close an open electric awning if it senses high wind gusts or very low temps. Can be turned on or off at the WeartherPro sensor box located in a compartment! Look for a switch on the side of the box.

This is what we do too. Have never relied on the wind sensor.

Strangely, our Vectra Owners Manual says:

NOTE: The awning retract feature requires the Ignition Switch to be ‘ON’.

Now, this seems counter-logical. To me the primary use of the wind sensor would be to retract the awning while I'm away, but I'm certainly not going to leave the keys in the ignition and "on" while I'm out and about. Not sure if the manual is accurate, but I've just never bothered to try it.

I have a 2010 Itasca Suncruiser. I have a weather pro awning but I don't have a sensor like that or any sensor that I can find. I have the control module and it is on and set to 18 mph. My awning only went in once while we were out and it wasn't that windy. I roll up the awning manually if it's windy anyway but I don't know what or where the sensor may be. Or if it even has one!

Craig, tech changes over the years. The OP and I have the older style awning and wind sensor on the roof. The newer ones have the sensor built into the end of the front roller tube.

That sensor never worked right. Yes it closed when the wind came up, but it would also overheat on sunny and windless days (when you would normally have it out) and close. It also closed when it was too cold out, causing other problems. This sensor has a design flaw that's frankly not worth the time to attempt to re-engineer. Turn it off and pay attention to the weather yourself
