Screw on extenders, yes. This thread is about rigid, metal, extended valve stems that replace your existing valve stems. They're mounted in the rims like your original stems.

I've seen posts quoting as low as $25/tire, but don't be surprised if it's more. I don't think I was charged since they'd put new valves in with new tires anyway.
