The channel appears to be part of the bracket extrusion. Nothing is easy on these beasts. I strongly suspect it goes into the body near the bottom based on the drawings that Rich posted.

Here is where the wire goes on mine. There is a channel/chase built into the bracket. I am guessing in runs down that until it turns to go into the body. Where it turns in is the question.

That looks similar to my 2014 Meridian. I will be working on it at the end of the week, I will see if I can tell where the light wire goes. I think it goes into the front arm somehow.
