I had some stains from a previous leak. I sprayed it with the peroxide in a small spray bottle and wiped it with a sponge. You cannot tell the stain was ever there.

A dumb question, but how did you get the rubber tread off the step? I'm thinking dynamite, but then the steps would not be a big problem.
